What good UX actually does

• Makes the next action obvious without needing an explanation
• Builds trust through consistency - the same patterns behaving the same way everywhere
• Prevents errors instead of just displaying a message after they happen

The cost of skipping it

A confusing interface does not just look unpolished, it directly costs conversions, generates support requests that a clearer flow would have prevented, and quietly trains users to give up rather than push through friction.

Where to focus first

You do not need to redesign everything at once. Start with the handful of screens or flows where users actually make decisions - sign-up, checkout, the core action your product exists to enable - and get those right before polishing the rest.
